University Archives in the (Very Local) News

Never shy, the NU Archives is extra proud of its strong presence in the summer issue of the NU Library’s newsletter, Footnotes. A feature article, “Record Store,” describes the extensive and fascinating collections Archives has received from NU alums (journalists, political figures, actors and producers, business leaders). The article focuses on the artifacts included in these collections--from shoes worn in Broadway shows to puppets to rolodexes—which document their lives in a different way from paper records.  The Archives also makes its usual appearance in the “Hidden Treasures” section of the newsletter, where the theme this time could be called “games people play in libraries”—it features the unusual board games held by the Library’s Distinctive Collections. Archives’ contribution to the genre is the All My Children game, part of the Agnes Nixon Papers (yes, another notable NU alumna). Don’t be shy about admitting that you have played this long as you won.
The Archives says thank you to Drew Scott and Clare Roccaforte from Library Public Relations for the great articles about us (and about our colleagues throughout the Library). If you haven’t seen this issue of Footnotes, stop by the Archives and pick one up. We’ll even autograph it for you.
