Popular GeoWeek challenges return to Libraries Nov. 16-20

Geography Awareness Week is the nationally recognized event designed to draw awareness to the art and science of geography, and how library geographic resources can help scholars use these tools to achieve colorful, meaningful and amazing results.

Of course, at Northwestern University Libraries, we prefer our serious scholarship with a dollop of fun. By popular demand, our annual GeoWeek activities includes some challenging activities to test your mettle, including dexterous puzzling and quick-thinking, Jeopardy-style competition!  

From Nov. 16 to 20, look for these events at your University and Mudd Libraries:

GeoPuzzle Challenge The wildly popular challenge returns! Test your knowledge of world geography and win fabulous prizes by completing map puzzles faster than your peers. Monday, Nov. 16  10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  University Library, 1st floor

GIS Speaker: Joseph Adduci, Argonne Research Lab GIS Division Thursday, Nov. 19 4:00 p.m. Forum Room (University Library 2nd floor)

GIS Lightning Talks Northwesten faculty and students share how Geographic Information Services have contributed to their research. Two 1-hour sessions will feature talks from diverse disciplines. Pizza lunch provided.

New this year, this fast-paced knowledge quiz will test contestants’ knowledge of maps and geography as they pursue fabulous prizes! Come to compete or to cheer on your favorite contestants. Teams of 1-3 members (Northwestern-affiliated only, please) can play.
