The Library Administrative Committee

The Library Administrative Committee consists of the University Librarian, the four Associate University Librarians, and the Assistant to the University Librarian.

The Committee provides advice and consultation for its members; makes decisions in the areas of personnel and budgeting; and provides leadership for the Library.

Role of the Administrative Committee

A. Advice and Consultation
  1. Share information about division activities and issues
  2. Discuss Library-wide concerns
  3. Serve in an advisory role to the University Librarian
  4. Provide advice to other members upon request
  5. Review the materials budget
  6. Identify and refer tasks and issues to others
  7. Address personnel matters involving privacy of individuals

B. Decision-making

  1. Assign merit categories for exempt staff
  2. Decide on committee and task force membership, excluding search committees
  3. Allocate budgeted travel funds consistent with library policy
  4. Decide what equipment will be funded, based on the prioritized lists of the divisions
  5. Make decisions when deadlines are too short to bring an issue to Management Council

C. Interaction with Management Council

  1. Propose agenda items to Management Council facilitators
  2. Recommend establishment of Library-wide committees and task forces (excluding search committees)
  3. Develop committee and task force charges for review by Management Council
  4. Review and forward Special Budget Requests to Management Council for approval
  5. Report on meetings to Management Council
