Acquisitions and Rapid Cataloging (ARC) Department
The Acquisitions & Rapid Cataloging (ARC) Department was formed in September 2007 when the Monographic Acquisitions & Rapid Cataloging Department merged with the Serials Acquisitions Section of the Serials Department. The ARC Department serves the Northwestern University Library as the production center for print materials at NUL. ARC acquires and processes print serials, media, and monographs, providing prompt access to these materials.
Members of the ARC Department order, receive, check-in, claim, and pay for new library materials in various formats for locations throughout the University Library on the Evanston and Chicago campuses. The Department is also responsible for copy cataloging monographs, as well as processing added volumes and added copies.
For more information about the activities of the ARC Department, please see the Department's annual reports. Reports prior to fiscal year 2007-2008 cover only the Monographic Acquisitions & Rapid Cataloging Department.
