After graduating from Northwestern's School of Speech in 1988,
Schwimmer joined with other Northwestern students to start the Lookingglass
Theater Company in Chicago. His feature film debut was in the supporting
role of John in "Crossing the Bridge" (1992). Schwimmer
also appeared in the short film "The Waiter" (1993), in
the initial episodes of "NYPD Blue," and in guest spots
on "The Wonder Years" and "L.A. Law." In 1994
his agent called with a script from "Friends." His performance
as Ross, the vulnerable, charming guy for the very successful television
series, has led to other opportunities including the film, "The
Pallbearer."
