Walter Netsch and the Northwestern University Library Program

A lecture program was presented on March 1, 2006, in conjunction with the exhibit Walter Netsch and the Northwestern University Libraryand sponsored by the Library Board of Governors. Mr. Netsch spoke briefly at the beginning of the program and answered questions after the lectures.

Ms. Alison Fisher, graduate student in the Department of Art History at Northwestern University, presented a concentrated view of Mr. Netsch's Field Theory and how it shaped his most important structures in Chicago: the Joseph Regenstein Library, the University of Illinois at Chicago campus, and the Northwestern University Library.

Dr. Robert Bruegmann, Professor and Chair of Art History at the University of Illinois at Chicago, analyzed Mr. Netsch's work at Northwestern within the context of his larger body of work, and also discussed his significance in American postwar architecture.
