Bibliographic Services Department
|
The Bibliographic Services Department creates and maintains a portion of the records in NUcat, the Library's online catalog. We catalog materials in all formats and languages acquired by the Library for most Evanston campus collections (except the United Libraries and monographs in Music and Transportation) plus the Schaffner Library on the Chicago campus. We also catalog NU dissertations, maintain the Africana Conference Paper Index, and participate as descriptive metadata experts in library digital projects. Our Catalog Management unit does transfers and withdrawals, helps provide access to previously unprocessed "hidden" collections, and contributes copy cataloging to NUcat. The Bibliographic Services Department was formed in September 2007 when the Catalog Department (minus the Marking Room, which moved to the Preservation Dept.) was combined with the serials cataloging unit of the Serials Department. You may request rush cataloging of material with the status "In process." To report an error in the catalog, use our CatFix form.
