Political Science — Development

• Academic OneFile A collection of peer-reviewed, full-text articles from more than 5000 journals, plus indexing of an additional 4000+ journals, newspapers and wire services. Coverage from 1980 to the present. Extensive coverage of the social sciences and other disciplines. Use this database for a broad search to retrieve both first tier as well as second tier sources. For a less broad search of first tier sources only, use Expanded Academic ASAP (EXAC) .
• AccessUN Indexes and some full-text access to current and retrospective U.N. documents, publications, treaties, and resolutions. See also UNBISnet and United Nations Treaty Collection .
• Carter Center Publications Subjects include election assessments, human rights, conflict resolution, democratization, and global development.
• CIAO: Columbia International Affairs Online Citations, abstracts and selected full-text articles covering topics in international affairs, collected largely from university- and foundation-funded research institutes, non-governmental organizations and academic conferences.
• Development Experience Clearinghouse—USAID Over 19,000 reports available for downloading.
• Development Gateway Foundation supported portal for country and development information.
• Directory of NGOs associated with DPI Associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information.
• Economist Intelligence Unit on the Internet Economic data on 150 countries, from about 1980 to present.
• Expanded Academic ASAP (EXAC) This is an important database for social sciences (political economy, gender studies, development, etc) with more than 20 years of coverage of about 3,500 first tier, indexed, and full-text titles, of which 2,100 are peer-reviewed. • Global Development Finance World Bank statistics on the external debt and financial flows of developing nations (The ICA client is required to run this database) This database is temporarily unavailable due to hardware failure. A print copy of this publication is available in the Library's Government and Geographic Information and Data Services Department.
• Handbook of Development Economics

• International Affairs Resources WWW Virtual Library link to 2600 relevant, annotated sites.
• International Bibliography of the Social Sciences Citations from an international selection of publications, including over 2600 journals, in all areas of the social sciences with emphasis on economics, political science, sociology and anthropology.
• ISI Emerging Markets Economic conditions in developing countries of Latin America, Asia and Europe. Includes industry and analyst reports, macroeconomic statistics and forecasts, legal and regulatory information, and opinion polls from the following emerging markets: Baltic States (including Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania), Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic (including Slovakia), Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia (including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan), Turkey, Ukraine, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, China, India, South Korea and Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand).
• JSTOR Provides electronic access to back issues of core scholarly journals including almost 30 in Political Science. To browse the list of archives, click here. Articles have been digitized, providing full-image access.
• NGO Cafe  "... a think tank for NGOs to discuss, debate and disseminate information on their work, strategies and results" as well as to provide an understanding of NGOs in general. 
• Nonprofits: Literature of the Nonprofit Sector
• OECD Index Bibliographic database containing descriptions of documents and publications issued by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and related agencies such as the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the European Conference of Ministers of Transport. Search the Library catalog NUcat for the titles you want. • Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) resources at NU: A thorough guide to OECD materials available to the NU community; compiled by the Main Library's Government and Geographic Information and Data Services.
• Oxresearch - Oxford Analytica Research papers, source intelligence, and global strategic analysis on issues in current business, security studies, development, world politics, developing countries, and economic history. Bridges the time-gap between newspaper reporting of current events and the appearance of scholarly works.
• PAIS International Bibliographic index to the literature of public policy, social policy, and the social sciences in general. Journal articles, books, government documents, statistical compilations, committee reports, directories, serials, reports of public, intergovernmental, and private organizations, and most other forms of printed literature from all over the world are indexed. This database covers 1972 to the present. Go to PAIS International Archive for coverage from 1937-1976. (The archive will eventually cover 1915 through 1976.)
• United Nations Environment Programme "...focus is to make credible, science-based knowledge understandable to the public and to decision-making for sustainable development." Includes the Maps and Graphics Library which is "an on-going project to collect and catalogue all graphic products that have been prepared for publications and web-sites from the last 15 years in a wide range of themes related to environment and sustainable development.
• World Development Indicators Includes 695 series for 229 countries, with range of social, economic, poverty, environmental and other data. Fairly unique in providing some data on military topics. Time span generally begins with 1960.
• Worldwide Political Science Abstracts Citations with abstracts from more than 1100 journals in political science and related disciplines. Coverage is international in scope.
