Library Resources

It is important to keep in mind some distinctions. The Internet is a technical infrastrucure, which connects computers by means of a network in which each computer can communicate with other computers. The World Wide Web, the Web, is an information-sharing model that is built on top of the Internet, using HTTP protocol to transmit data. Northwestern University Library (NUL) Website is the structured collection of web pages and electronic information resources, which the librarians at NUL have reviewed and confirmed to be of academic value and accuracy.

Randomly surfing the Web will lead to websites which vary greatly in accuracy and value. Searching within the carefully assessed resources, which are listed in the NUL website, leads to verified academic-level information.
