Children's Literature Collection




The research collection of children's literature includes award-winning and highly recommended children's books-fiction and nonfiction-published primarily in the United States. The collection also includes fine examples of children's books published in other countries and in languages other than English. Teaching activities books for many K-12 subject areas are available. All titles in the children's literature collection may be checked out. The location symbol is curr.

Many children's books by authors and illustrators who have been nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Medal (the major international children's book award) are located here. You can also visit the 2004 exhibit on Hans Christian Andersen Collection at Northwestern, which highlighted the Library’s extensive research collections in children’s literature, featuring a worldwide selection of the work of talented illustrators who were nominated for major awards in 2004.

The Curriculum Collection also includes a selection of international children's books selected from the International Board on Books for Young People's Honour List.
