1991 National Race and Politics Survey
A nationwide telephone survey carried out by the Survey Research Center of the University of California, Berkeley. Respondents were asked questions to gauge their attitudes about welfare, race relations, altruism, and members of other races.
1997 Survey of Chicago African Americans
A telephone survey of African Americans aged 18 years or older, residing in certain areas of the city of Chicago. The Survey Research Center of the University of California, Berkeley, conducted the survey from February 10 to August 3, 1997. There were 756 completed interviews.
Dynamics of Idealism: Volunteers for Civil Rights 1965-1982
These uestionnaires were administered to volunteers in the 1965 Summer Community Organization and Political Education (SCOPE) project of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) before and after a two and a half month voter registration effort in May and the Fall of 1965, and a follow-up study in 1982. General Social Survey 1972-2004
General Social Survey (GSS) is a long running survey of social, cultural and political indicators. In addition to the GSS, topic modules include computer and Internet, racial and ethnic prejudice, and child mental-health stigma. The GSS has participated since 1985 in the International Social Survey Program. A listing of modules performed through 2002 is available. For quick crosstabs and correlations use the SDA version is available for fee through University of California at Berkeley.
Latino National Political Survey, 1989-1990 (ICPSR)
This data collection measured the political attitudes and behaviors of three specific Latino groups in the United States: Mexican, Puerto Rican, and Cuban. A non-Latino comparison group was also interviewed. Sample size is 3415 Total: 2817 Latinos (1546 Mexican, 589 Puerto Rican, 682 Cuban), 598 non-Latinos.
Little Village Survey
Little Village, a neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, is the largest Mexican community in the Midwestern United States. The Little Village Survey consists of business and household surveys. As of August 2006, the household data is not yet available.
Murray Research Archive - Diversity Archive
The Diversity Archive consists of numerous studies with racially and ethnically diverse samples. The Murray Research Archive also houses a number of studies focusing on specific ethnic groups and on ethnic relations. Application needs to be made directly to the Murray Research Archive for permission to use the data.
National Black Election Studies (ICPSR)
Large-scale academic survey of the political attitudes and voting behavior of Black Americans. Conducted in 1984, 1988, and 1996. The 1984 and 1988 surveys were longitudinal in nature. Sample Size: Pre-election: 1984-1,150; 1988-473; 1996-1,216. Post-election: 1984-872; 1988-392; 1996-854.
National Longitudinal Survey of Freshmen
Developed to provide comprehensive data to test different theoretical explanations for minority underachievement in higher education of college students at regular intervals. The survey includes equal-sized samples of white, black, Asian, and Latino freshmen entering selective colleges and universities.
National Survey of Black Americans 1979-1980, 1987-1988, 1988-1989, 1992 (ICPSR)
The survey investigates neighborhood-community integration, services, crime and community contact, the role of religion and the church, physical and mental health, self-esteem, life satisfaction, employment, the effects of chronic unemployment, the effects of race on the job, interaction with family and friends, racial attitudes, race identity, group stereotypes, and race ideology. Demographic variables include education, marital status, income, employment status, occupation, and political behavior and affiliation.
