This page provides background information concerning University Library podcasts and other audio/video downloads.
Formats
Below is information regarding the formats we use for our podcasts (video and
audio).
Many times playback problems are encountered because the software or
hardware does not support playback of certain file formats. Check the software
support pages for your player and/or refer to information concerning your MP3
player or other device for more information about format support.
The formats
we use for our audio and video:
Library audio is in MP3 format.
64 kbps to 128
kbps
44.1 khz
Library video used in podcasts and downloads is in MPEG4 format:
Codec: H.264
Audio: AAC / 44.1 khz
Data rate: 866 kbps
Playback on your Computer:
We recommend using the Quicktime player for playing back our podcasts, vodcasts and downloads on your computer. Link to download Quicktime player:http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Playback on your MP3 player or other Device:
Your player must be able to support playback of the formats above. Please check your user manual or manufacturer website for support. Sometimes the manufacturer will supply updates/additional downloads (firmware and software) that will solve your playback problem.
