Google Scholar
If you are a first-time Google Scholar user . . .1. Add “Northwestern” to your “Google Scholar Preferences” to get access to journal articles we own. If you are off campus, you must use VPN.
2. Google Scholar links may ask you to pay for articles. Instead of choosing this option, click on the "Find It @ NU" button to discover Northwestern’s no-charge alternatives—or contact the library by phone (847-491-7656), e-mail, or in person.
3. Google Scholar may recommend books that are not at Northwestern. If you would like us to get them for you, contact Interlibrary Loan. We may also have far more books and other resources on a topic than Google Scholar says we do. So for additional research, check NUcat—or contact us.
4. Google Scholar is a great place to start your research, but it does not search hundreds of in-depth specialist databases we own. Go to Einstein for a complete alphabetical list—or visit the Library’s web research guides for a subject-by-subject overview.
5. Contact the library if you have any questions at 847- 491-7656, by e-mail, or in person.
