Making a Gift: Endowed Funds

The Saranow Family Endowed Fund

Mitchell H. Saranow, charter member of the Library's Deering Society, and his wife Linda created the Saranow Family Fund to support acquisitions in the Charles Deering McCormick Library of Special Collections. Saranow received a business degree from Northwestern in 1967. Currently president of the Saranow Group, he serves on the executive committee on the Library Board of Governors. The Saranows, wanting to instill the value of philanthropy in their children, named their endowed fund for the family, making it easy for future generations to carry on a tradition of giving.

The Saranow Family Endowed Fund reflects their interest in rare manuscripts and original scholarly material by helping the Library to acquire exceptional materials from around the world. Most recently, the Saranow Fund enabled the McCormick Library of Special Collections to acquire Thresor Admirable, a rare French translation from 1581 of a Hebrew text written by Pontius Pilate.
