How do I...?
...limit a search in NUcat to items in a particular library location or collection?
Click the "Choose More Limits" button near the bottom of the NUcat search screen. The Search Limits page will then display.
Select one or more limits in the Library Location menu. Some of your choices include:
- Africana
- Art Collection
- Galter Health Sciences Library
- Geology Library
- Law Library (Pritzker Legal Research Center)
- MAIN Core
- MAIN Curriculum
- MAIN Government Publications
- MAIN Reference
- MAIN Periodical/Newspaper Reading Room
- MAIN Reference
- MAIN Stacks
- Math Library
- Mitchell Multimedia Center
- Music Library
- Schaffner Library
- Science & Engineering Library
- Special Collections
- Transportation Library
- United Library
- University Archives
To make multiple selections, hold down the Ctrl key (the Command key on Macintoshes) while clicking on your selections with the mouse.
Once you've made your selection(s), click the "Set Limits" button at the bottom of the page. This will take you back to a NUcat search screen where you can enter your search terms. You should notice a message near the top of your screen reading "Limits are in effect for Title, Journal Title, Keyword, Call Number and Guided searches only." Your search limits remain in effect until you click the "Remove Limits" button, or until you close your browser.
