Vince and Cyndy's PageThis HTML version of The Northwestern University Libraries by Rolf H. Erickson was originally produced as a project for the "Technology in Learning and Teaching (TiLT)" program held at Northwestern University on March 22-25, 1994.
Vincent McCoy is a Northwestern University alum (B.M., School of Music, 1975). Vince has worked full-time at Northwestern University Library since August 1974 in a variety of positions. During his undergraduate years Vince's work-study job was in the Music Library. In all, Vince has had an association with Northwestern University Library for over 20 years. Vince's current position is User Services Specialist in which he provides micro-computer and Internet support and training to library staff. Vince first became interested in the history of Northwestern University Library from a slide-show/lecture presentation given by Rolf Erickson in the late 1970's. Rolf's excellent selection of slides, anecdotes, and facts, presented in Rolf's entertaining and engaging manner, made the history of Northwestern University Library come alive for Vince in a way he had not experienced previously. Since that time Vince had many occasions to work with Rolf and to get to know him as a colleague and a friend. Vince is proud to be able to take Rolf's work one step further by adding illustrations, sounds and additional background material all presented in a hypertext format. Vince thinks Rolf would be very pleased by this new version of his work. Cynthia King has also been associated with Northwestern University Library for nearly 20 years. Cyndy began her tenure at the library in the Technical Services division in August 1975. Since then she has held a variety of positions such as order clerk, bibliographic searcher, and copy cataloger. Cyndy's current position, Head of Monographic Acquisitions, has introduced her to the mysterious world of the Internet where librarians encounter alien creatures (book vendors) and strange beasts (publishers) every day. Cyndy was pleased to join Vince in gathering materials and producing the HTML version of Rolf's work, and believes Rolf's imagination and enthusiasm would surely be excited by this endeavor. We offer this new version of The Northwestern University Libraries to the Northwestern and Internet community as a memorial and tribute to our friend and colleague Rolf Erickson.
