Student Instructions for Reserve Services
You can find your course materials in one of two ways:
You may also access the web-browsable NUcat. The opening page of NUcat presents you with several search options; click "Course Reserve." From there, you can search by instructor, department, and course number. Once the course reserve list is retrieved, you can click on the title, which will then present you with the item’s record and call number.
All regular reserve items are held at the circulation desk and organized according to call number. Present the desk attendant with the call number and s/he will retrieve the item for you.
Regular reserve materials have highly restricted loan periods and steep overdue fines. Below are the three loan periods.
- 2 HOUR LOAN PERIOD - Items will circulate for two hours and accrue overdue fines at a rate of $1.00 per hour, including overnight hours or other hours when the library is closed.
- 1 DAY LOAN PERIOD- These items are due fifteen minutes prior to closing on the day after the day they are charged. Overdue fines accrue at a rate of $5.00 per day.
- 3 DAY LOAN PERIOD - These items are due fifteen minutes prior to closing on the third day after they are charged. Overdue fines accrue at a rate of $1.50 per day.
In most cases, overdue and fine notices are sent via email. If you have a question about such a notification, please contact the Seeley G. Mudd Library circulation desk during 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM, weekdays. All fines are payable at the Circulation Desk.
All Seeley G. Mudd Library reserve materials must be returned to the Seeley G. Mudd Library circulation desk only. Do not return SEL reserve items to any other library's circulation or reserve desk or the outdoor book drops. You will accrue overdue fines on items that are returned to other NU libraries.
