The Library provides online access to 650 Kluwer journals
WHAT:
Northwestern University Library, Galter Health Sciences Library, and Pritzker Legal Resource Center have joined with the CIC (Committee on Insitutional Cooperation) research libraries to provide greatly expanded access to journals published by Kluwer, a large publisher of scientific information headquartered in Dordrecht, Netherlands. The new agreement includes full online access to all 650 Kluwer academic journals, including journal backfiles beginning in 1997. Northwestern's new online Kluwer portfolio is a substantial increase from the 159 Kluwer titles the Library has received in paper subscription to date. Paper subscriptions will continue throughout 2004.
In addition to the sciences and engineering, Northwestern's participation in Kluwer Journals Online will greatly benefit a number of social science and humanities disciplines, including law, linguistics, and philosophy. Typical journals in the new package include African Archaeological Review, Linguistics and Philosophy, and Theoretical Foundations of Chemical Engineering.
The Kluwer agreement extends equally to Northwestern's campuses in Evanston and Chicago.
WHERE:
Access Kluwer Journals Online at http://journals.kluweronline.com/. To see a full list of all journal titles, search the Library’s online catalog, NUcat, or the Electronic Resource Center (ER) under “Kluwer." To access a specific online resource, search NUcat or the ER by the title of the journal.
HOW:
The database is available 24/7 from any Evanston or Chicago campus address. There is no limit to the number of users who can access the files simultaneously. Off-campus access is available via dial-up modem or the VPN.
WHO:
Contact the Library's selectors for more information on this new service. The reference desks at any of the libraries can also provide immediate assistance and help in accessing the database. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.
