Expanded access to science information

400 Wiley-Interscience journals are now available 24/7

WHAT:
Northwestern University Library, Galter Health Sciences Library, and Pritzker Legal Resource Center have joined with the CIC (Committee on Institutional Cooperation) research libraries to provide greatly expanded access to journals published by Wiley-InterScience, one of the premier international publishers of scientific information. The new agreement includes full online access to over 400 Wiley-InterScience journals with coverage beginning in 1997.

Northwestern's new online Wiley portfolio is a substantial increase from the 142 Wiley subscriptions the Library has received in paper subscription to date. Paper subscriptions will continue throughout 2004.

Among the most popular Wiley online titles available to the Northwestern community are Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Advanced Materials, Journal of Applied Polymer Science, and Cancer. Northwestern has also acquired the extended backfile to Angewandte Chemie, starting with volume 1 (1962) through volume 36 (1997), a total of 16,000 articles on 55,000 pages.

The Wiley-InterScience agreement extends equally to Northwestern's Evanston and Chicago campuses.

WHERE:
Access Wiley-InterScience at
http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/home . The Library will be adding the new online journals by title to NUcat, the Library’s online catalog, and to the ER (Electronic Resource Center) during winter quarter.

HOW:
The database is available 24/7 from any Evanston or Chicago campus address. There is no limit to the number of users who can access the files simultaneously. Off-campus access is available via dial-up modem or the VPN.

WHO:
Contact the Library's selectors for more information on this new service. The reference desks at any of the libraries can also provide immediate assistance and help in accessing the database. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.
