The Royal Society of Chemistry Archives is added to the Library's electronic resources
Northwestern University Library now subscribes to the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Journals Archive. For over a century, the RSC has been recognized as one of the most prestigious publishers of chemical information in the world. The archive contains the complete publishing history of the RSC and forerunner societies (covering a period from 1841 to 1996). Content includes the full text of more than 210,000 articles -- more than 1.2 million pages -- available electronically in PDF at the desktop. Examples of journals available include Analyst, Annual Reports, Chemical Society Reviews, Chemical Communications, Faraday Transactions, Journal of the Chemical Society, and others.
The archive may be browsed by journal or its entirety or a pre-selected set of subject areas or group of journals may be searched by keyword, author or article title.
The archive is located at http://www.rsc.org/is/journals/retrodigitisation.htm. A list of contents for browsing is available at http://www.rsc.org/is/journals/availableissues.htm.
The archive is available 24/7 from any Evanston or Chicago campus address. There is no limit to the number of users who can access the files simultaneously. Off-campus access is available via dial-up modem or the VPN.
Throughout the spring semester, the Library will be linking individual journal titles in the archive to NUcat, the Library's online catalog. For more information on the RSC Archive, please contact Bob Michaelson, head librarian, Seeley G. Mudd Library for Science and Engineering, rmichael@northwestern.edu or x1-3057.
