APS Journal Legacy Content provides electronic access to 14 physiology journals
Northwestern University Library has acquired the complete electronic archive, entitled APS Journal Legacy Content, of all journal publications of the American Physiological Society (APS). APS was established in 1887 with a mission to foster education, scientific research, and dissemination of information in the physiological sciences. With over 10,500 current members, the society produces 14 of the most internationally significant journals in the field of physiology.
APS Journal Legacy Content provides perpetual access to the full-text online content of all APS journals from 1898 to 1996-1998, depending on the journal. The content dates back to the first issue of each journal, including the first APS journal published in 1898, the American Journal of Physiology. In a separate agreement, University Library subscribes to all current issues of these journals from 1998 forward.
All content of APS titles for the years 1966 through 1998 is now available online. Full-text access to articles from 1898 to 1965 should be available by the end of 2004.
Access
APS Journal Legacy Content and current issues of APS journals can be accessed via the ER (Electronic Resources) link on the Library’s web site or through NUcat, the Library’s online catalog, by searching each specific APS journal title. Access to all APS journals and current issues is available through the following link:
http://www.the-aps.org/publications/legacy/index.htm
APS Journal Legacy Content and current issues are available 24/7 from any Evanston or Chicago campus address. There is no limit to the number of users who can access the files simultaneously. Off-campus access is available via dial-up modem or the VPN.
