Electronic backfiles for top chemistry source

Content from 1962 to 1997 available from Angewandte Chemie International Edition

Northwestern University Library has purchased the electronic backfiles to the Angewandte Chemie International Edition from 1962 (volume 1) to 1997 (volume 36). This journal has consistently been ranked one of the top sources in the world for significant developments in chemistry and related areas (2002 ISI Impact Factor: 7.671). Since 1998, Angewandte’s current issues have been available online through Wiley InterScience and purchased by the Library.

History
A publication of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (German Chemical Society), Angewandte Chemie was first published in 1888 in German and was considered by many to be Germany's most important industrial chemistry journal. The international edition was first published in English in January 1962. Since that time it has gained a reputation as a "top-quality publication that includes important, fastbreaking developments, abstracts of important work published elsewhere, and some original research papers." A number of the original research articles were of such quality as to merit the Nobel Prize.
