SPIE and IEL conference proceedings to be linked through NUcat

An article in the fall 2004 issue of Library Briefings describes a new Library subscription to IEL (IEEE/IEE Electronic Library). This product and the SPIE Digital Library described in this issue contain thousands of conference proceedings and many technical journals. The Library is now working to enhance the utility of these subscriptions by adding catalog records for each item to the online catalog, NUcat. These catalog records -- for nearly 2,700 proceedings in SPIE Digital Library and more than 5,000 proceedings and nearly 1,200 IEEE Standards in IEL -- were purchased from OCLC, a membership-based computer library service. These catalog records will provide users more direct access to the online conference proceedings from these major scholarly societies. After the initial load of catalog records, we will be getting updates twice a year.
