Portable equipment smartens up seminar rooms
Instructors teaching in seminar rooms in the Library can now check out projection systems from the University Library InfoCommons Desk. Small, portable, and flexible, this equipment gives Library seminar rooms most of the capabilities of other “smart” classrooms across campus. The equipment consists of an LCD projector, a tabletop screen, and cables for laptop hookup and connectivity. When plugged into a laptop computer, this equipment allows an instructor to present to a group essentially anything that can be brought up on the screen of the laptop, including images, sound, and motion pictures.
Since the number of projectors is limited, reserving a system at least one week ahead of time is suggested. Reservations can be made in person at the InfoCommons Desk on the first floor of the Main Library or by calling 847-491-7658.
While the equipment is fairly easy to use and works with almost any laptop, instructors are strongly recommended to take a short orientation prior to first-time use and test the equipment with their own laptops and media. Orientations are available through Academic Technologies. Call 847-467-7666 (7-ROOM) to make arrangements.
