Our online list includes materials newly available to faculty
Ever wonder what the Library has ordered? When it’s come in? When it’s on the shelf? Interested in a list of new books, microfilms, videos? There’s a simple way to find out what's new: From the Library's home page, click on "Recent additions to the collections" under the "What’s new?" banner. You’ll be led to a menu with a host of choices. Or you can go directly to http://www.library.northwestern.edu/collections/recent/. This site provides an online record of new materials that have been cataloged and are now available to patrons.
The "Recent additions to the collections" site provides a rolling three months’ worth of information and is updated once a month. Patrons can view all titles that have been put on the shelves during a specified time period, as well as recently acquired electronic materials. You can customize this list by searching broad subject category (e.g., Europe: General History), geographical region, language, format (e.g., text, microfilm, videorecording), or even location (Main Library, Special Collections, Internet, etc.). Once you’ve pulled up your list, you’ll see that each entry provides title, author, format, location, call number, publisher, and date, and is linked to NUcat. To pull up the NUcat record, just click on the title you’d like to see.
In addition to this list, there are other ways to see what’s new in the Library's collections. If you’re in the Main Library, check out the Julius and Elizabeth Abler New Acquisitions Alcove near the General Information Center (GIC). You can also browse the New Fiction Corner in the same location.
If you’re interested in new titles from the United Library, the Galter Health Sciences Library, or the Pritzker Legal Research Center, you can follow the links at the bottom of the welcome screen on the "Recent additions" page. For special libraries on the Evanston campus (Science & Engineering, Music, Africana, Special Collections, Art, Transportation, Government Publications, and the University Archives) get in touch with those libraries directly by following the links on the Library home page under the heading “Libraries and Collections.”
