International Financial Statistics Online covers more than 200 countries
International Financial Statistics Online is now available to the Northwestern community. IFS Online contains statistics related to international and domestic finance for most countries of the world. It will be especially valuable to scholars interested in the international economy, development, and trade.
Northwestern University Library has subscribed to this International Monetary Fund title since it was first printed in 1948. In recent years, the Library has received monthly CD-ROM issues in addition to the print volumes. The online version has now been added to simplify searching and retrieval.
IFS Online contains 32,000 time series covering more than 200 countries, with some data going back to 1945. It includes all of the data from the CD-ROM and monthly print volumes as well as Country, World, and Commodity Prices Tables. The Economic Concept View organizes data by subject for individual or groups of countries.
The online database is similar to the CD format. Data can be retrieved through either the search or the browse option, which allows users to drill down to the desired indicators. The data is displayed as a spreadsheet and is easily exported into Microsoft Excel, HTML, TAB delimited, or comma separated value file formats.
IFS Online is available at http://ifs.apdi.net/imf/ifsbrowser.aspx?branch=ROOT. There are also links to the database in NUcat and Electronic Resources.
