Ten tabletops were recently removed from tables in the Art and Architecture reading rooms and from the Special Collections reading room. The oak veneer tabletops are being repaired and restored by Hoffman Furniture Restoration. According to Russ Clement, Head of the Art Collection, this is the first-known restoration of the 78-year-old original Deering study tables. This is the first step in a much larger project to refinish all of the damaged tabletops in libraries housed throughout Deering Library; the project will be completed when additional funds are made available.
