Food for fines

Printer-friendly versionSend by email

Beginning on Tuesday, November 15, you can help yourself and someone else by trading food for fines! Northwestern University Library will remove $5 in fines* for every non-perishable food item donated.  All food will be donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Food for Fines will end on Friday, December 9.

In Cook County, more than 500,000 people rely on food provided by the Food Depository. Last year the Food Depository distributed more than 46 million pounds of food through our network of 600 agencies the equivalent of more than 95,000 meals per day, 365 days a year.
