Medill Reports recently posted an article regarding the use of a single card for CTA, Pace, and Metra services. While they suggest that this possiblity is still several years in the future, they report that the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) has voted to "develop and implement a regional fare model that brings them much closer to that goal of seamless transfers." Northwestern University Transportation Center professor Ian Savage points out that such a card has been a goal of the RTA since it was established in 1974.
