Car sharing removes roughly 500,000 cars from the road

A recent industry study ( indicates that car sharing through services such as ZipCar has already resulted in there being roughly 500,000 fewer cars on U.S. roads than would have been the case without it. The consultancy AlixPartners ( interviewed 1000 drivers in 10 urban markets to determine the effect that car sharing has already had, and to make projections through 2020. By that time they predict that ride sharing will result in there being 1.2 million fewer cars purchased
