"New" Ravel Work to be Premiered April 15
The Northwestern University Library and the Bienen School of Music look forward to presenting the world premiere of an unpublished composition by Maurice Ravel on April 15. The manuscript for this work, Fugue in F Minor, is held by the Northwestern University Music Library. Composed around 1897 while Ravel was a student, this carefully crafted piece offers a fascinating glimpse into the training and development of an artist who would later become one of the most influential composers of the twentieth century. Along with the work's first performance, the program will include a lecture by Dr. Keith E. Clifton (Ph.D. 1998), who will discuss his process of transcribing and editing this "new" work.
