NHTSA releases 'Sample Law to Prohibit Texting While Driving

US Dept. of Transportation Sec. Ray Lahood has announced the release of sample language for individual states to use in legislation involving texting while driving. Interestingly, it includes categories of drivers who may text while driving, include law enforcement personnel, citizens reporting criminal or suspicious activity, receiving messages related to weather or navigation of a vehicle, and to actually turn on or off the texting device.
