Babies Left in Cars

Apparently it really does take a rocket scientist to find a way to keep people from forgetting they have a child in the car. A recent New York Times article pointed out that this is an ongoing problem, made worse by having babies relegated to back-seat carriers. While some car companies (Volvo, VW) have looked at technological solutions they have so far not implemented any. It took three NASA scientists, who developed a seat sensor connected to a key fob alarm. If the child is left in the seat when the driver walks away from the car, the alarm sounds until the child is removed.
