Airport sustainability

Portland International Airport continues to spearhead the sustainability movement in airport and transportation construction projects. Newest design features include a "consolidated airport and seaport" office space, imbedded water conservation and wastewater treatment, and ground source heating. These simple, yet innovative features combine to earn the facility Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. For more information on the "green movement" in transportation or the Port of Portland's developments see v.22:no.5 (2010:Oct./Nov.) of Airport Magazine.
