Brooke Jarrett, a graduate student in Northwestern University’s department of environmental engineering, will be presenting the technical processes behind her documentary Escuchen. Jarrett and a fellow MIT spent two summers filming in Peru following the devastating 7.9 earthquake that hit its coast in 2007. Escuchen tracks the recovery efforts through interviews with workers from nongovernmental aid organizations who played a major role in reconstructing homes and distributing aid after the earthquake. The filmmakers also put cameras into the hands of ten local youth so they could document their own stories about the reconstruction.

Please join us as Jarrett discusses the process of filming the documentary and shows segments from the film in the Northwestern University Library Forum Room on Wednesday, May 25th.
