Reformating of Brittle Materials

Roughly one third of Northwestern's paper-based materials have deteriorated to the point of embrittlement and cannot survive much further use. These materials are carefully reviewed with selectors and bibliographers. Replacements are purchased where possible. Otherwise, materials are microfilmed, or photocopied on alkaline paper, or a digital reproduction is created.
