Circulation Services staff are available to help users with all procedures related to checking out and returning books.

You can use this site to access information about borrowing [1] and renewal [2] procedures; a detailed explanation of Northwestern University Main Library policies [3]; maps [4] and guides [5] to the library and its book stacks; privileges information relating to obtaining borrowing privileges [6], study carrels [7], and setting up students to act as research assistants [8]; and contact information for circulation services throughout the Northwestern University Library system.

Note: The policies and procedures outlined on these pages pertain to circulation units at the following libraries: Main, Science and Engineering, Math, Music, and Schaffner.

The other Northwestern libraries, Law (Pritzker) and Health Sciences (Galter), and the United Library (an affiliated library) have their own policies. Please check their web sites for more information.

Monday-Saturday: 8:30AM to 12:00AM
Sunday: 10:00AM to 12:00AM

Summer Session
Monday-Thursday: 8:30AM to 10:00PM
Friday & Saturday: 8:30AM to 5:00PM
Sunday: 10:00AM to 6:00PM

Intersession
Monday-Thursday: 8:30AM to 5:00PM
Friday: 8:30AM to 6:00PM
Saturday: 10:00AM to 2PM
Sunday: Closed
