How to use these files
These files are available in two formats. The section titled "Stand-alone Files" contains links to stand-alone executable files. These are small programs, meant to be downloaded and run, independent of other software. The section titled "Flash Files" contains files in Flash format, intended to be run within your web browser.
These training materials are close captioned. If you wish to view them with the captions, click the caption icon (CC button), third from the right end of the control bar, each time you open a new module.
Using the Stand-alone files
If you wish to go through the entire series in order, click on the link "Start training here" under Stand-alone Files. This will open the first training module. If you are prompted to save the file, without the option to run it, save it to your desktop. (You may wish to change your browser settings to allow executable files to run without first saving them.) After it has been saved, go to your desktop and double-click the file to run it, or open your browser's downloads window and double-click the file name to run it. At the end of each module you will find a button that will open the next module. These buttons are linked to the files on the Transportation Library's web site, not to the copies you may have saved on your desktop. Each time you click the button for the next file, you will connect through your browser to our web site, and will be prompted to save or run (depending on your browser) the next file.
If you wish to view a single module as a stand-alone file, click on the link to that file in the Stand-alone files section. Once you have downloaded all the files once, there is no need to run them from this page. You will be able to run any file you wish by double-clicking the saved copy.
Using the Flash-formatted files
The Flash files are intended to be viewed in a browser window.
If you wish to go through the entire series in order, click on the link "Start training here" under Flash Files. This will open the first training module. At the end of that module, and all subsequent modules, you will find a button that will open the next module.
If you wish to view a single module as a Flash file, click on the link to that file in the Flash files section.
