Restored aquatints of scenes from downtown Chicago in the 19th century
Schaffner Library welcomes back artwork that was on display in Wieboldt Hall in 1927.
Three aquatints featuring scenes from downtown Chicago in the 19th century were restored and reframed and are back on display in Schaffner Library since Fall 2011.These prints by Raoul Varin were originally purchased for Wieboldt hall when it opened in 1927. All three prints have been lovingly restored by the Northwestern University Library's own conservation lab and rematted and reframed with the help of the library's Art Committee. Special thanks to Susan Russick and Carol Anthony, and to Sara Stigberg for researching the prints.
