Why does your friend love the CTA while you can’t stand to ride the ‘L? According to a recent study published in the International Journal of Sustainable Transportation, it’s more than a simple preference. After conducting extensive research on a university student population, as well as building upon past scientific research on the success or failures of public transportation, a team of engineers have concluded that socioeconomic backgrounds and pre-conceived attitudes toward public transportation greatly affect a user’s experience. Check out the study, “On the Asymmetric User Perception of Transit Service Quality” online here [2] .
