It is budget proposal time at NU. Do you ever wonder where the University Librarian gets the figures for cost projections?
The estimates are provided in emails and reports from vendors, from the literature, and from various organizations. These sources offer predictions on just how much everything will cost almost a year from now. For library collections budgets, that means projecting price increases (and decreases, if we are ever so lucky) on books and journals, in print and electronic formats, from domestic and international markets. As a consequence, the “Cost Projections & The Publishing Market” section of the Data Bank has been updated. See:
