The New York Times recently reported [2] on NYC DOT [3] study regarding pedestrian safety. One interesting finding is that left turns were 3 times as likely to cause a crash as right turns. Given the general practice in Chicago of turning left after the light has changed, it would be interesting to see a similar study done here.
