One of the Library's most successful digital projects is the World War II Poster Collection from the Government and Geographic Information and Data Services Department. Gov Info has a comprehensive set of over 300 posters issued by U.S. Federal agencies from the onset of war through 1945. Missing from the digital project is the poster featuring Joe Louis. Its vandalized condition made it unpresentable.
Joseph Louis Barrow (1914–1981) One of the greatest boxers in modern history, viewed as both a symbol of racial harmony and as a symbol of Black triumph in a racist society. [Biography: Oxford African American Studies Center]
