In a report made public by the U.S. Department of Transportation Air Travel Consumer Report in mid-February, airlines in the United States did a better job of getting passengers and their luggage to their destinations on time last year (2009). The nation's largest airlines' 79.5 percent on-time performance rate in 2009 was their best since 2003.
