Roughly a year ago, The Onion published a humorous view of airline passengers "[stacked] like cordwood". That vision may not be so far from reality.
There's a new airline seat being developed in Italy called the SkyRider. It will allow an airline to fit more passengers into a given space by keeping people in a partially upright position, with no possiblity of reclining the seat. As designed, they would be installed with no more than 23 inches between each row of seats. Several articles appeared on the seats in mid-September, when they were introduced at the Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas conference in Long Beach, California. Stories on the seats may be found on the web sites of ABC , CNN , and USA Today , among others.
