Starting May 11, 2011, Northwestern University undergraduates and staff who have 4-week loan periods for books will now enjoy 12-week loan periods for University Library circulating books. Books included are those that circulate and are held in the Main Library stacks, Seeley G. Mudd Library (Tech), the Math Library, the Schaffner Library, and special library collections such as Africana and Music. This extended loan period better accommodates use of books for an academic quarter without a patron needing to worry about overdue notices or renewals. Books will still be subject to recall by other members of the NU community as under the current policy.
The new loan period will apply to books checked-out or renewed on, or after, May 11, 2011. For books checked out prior to that date, the 4-week loan period still applies.
