The Northwestern University Library looks forward to supporting your graduate studies and research!
On Monday,September 19, 2011, the
University Library , in partnership with the
Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences (WCAS) , the
School of Education & Social Policy (SESP) ,
The School of Communication (SoC) , the
Bienen School of Music , and
The Graduate School (TGS) will host a half-day program -- the
Electronic Resources Forum (ERF) . The purpose of the Forum is to introduce incoming doctoral students in humanities and social science disciplines to the vast array of resources available via the University Library, and to provide a solid working overview of those electronic materials, tools, and techniques that are relevant to scholarly research.
The ERF is an integral part of orientation for new graduate students in humanities and social science disciplines. In addition to learning about research resources, participants will have a lively and informal opportunity to meet a diverse array of colleagues. On September 19th, you are invited to begin the day with continental breakfast in the Ver Steeg Faculty Lounge, on the third floor of the University Library. Breakfast will be followed by
Forum sessions in 45-minute blocks beginning at 9:00 a.m. At 12:35 p.m., you are invited to a box lunch. Optional library tours will begin at approximately 1:20, immediately following lunch.
As you look over the
session topics , you will see a wide range of choices. Some sessions are cross-disciplinary, with a focus on resources and techniques that are not easy to master. Some of the other offerings focus on tools and techniques. We welcome and encourage you to attend as many sessions as your schedule allows.
