Provided by the ILL staff of Main and Mudd Library for Science & Engineering Libraries
Use your Interlibrary Loan account to request scans of most articles or book chapters held in print in Evanston-campus libraries. Use this account to track and access scanned items.
Periodical articles and book chapters held in Main, Mudd, and Deering libraries.
If an article is available through an electronic resource subscribed to by the library, a link to the article will be provided rather than a scanned copy of the print item.
Articles and chapters requested through this service are for use by individuals. Articles and chapters needed for courses should be requested through Course Reserves .
All members of the Evanston-campus NU community with a valid NetID including faculty, graduate students, undergraduates, and staff are eligible for this service. Schaffner and Distance Education patrons are also welcome to use the service.
Galter Health Sciences Library patrons are eligible for that library's document delivery service .
We attempt to fill all requests in the order they are received. If resources are stretched, we reserve the right to limit the number of requests per user to 10 articles or book chapters each business day (Monday-Friday).
Fair use and other applicable copyright law rights and restrictions will be applied to each request.
Generally, we will scan 1 chapter or 10% of a single book for an individual patron. If more than that is needed, we recommend that the patron checks out the book.
There is no cost. This service is provided by the University Library to the NU community free of charge.
We strive to fill requests the same day they are received. Our ability to do so depends on staffing resources and the number of requests received on any given day, so it may take up to 2 business days for requests to be filled. If we are unable to keep this timeframe, we will let you know via email. This service should not be used for materials you need instantly or within a few hours.
