All currently employed full-time faculty and staff and currently enrolled students from Northwestern University may gain access to Loyola libraries during all open hours by showing their valid Northwestern ID at the library entrance.
While this agreement includes onsite access to selected licensed databases via guest/public work stations, it does not include remote/proxy access to databases.
This service is available to currently employed full-time faculty and staff and currently enrolled students from Northwestern University who have library privileges at Northwestern.
The access and borrowing arrangements do not apply to research assistants; alumni; retired faculty (except emeritus faculty); visiting scholars; children and/or domestic partners of faculty, staff or students; fee borrowers; corporate borrowers; etc.
To obtain a Loyola borrower’s card, Northwestern patrons must bring their WildCARD to the circulation desk at the Cudahy Library at Loyola between 8:30am and 6:00pm Monday through Thursday, or between 8:30am and 5:00pm on Fridays. NU patrons will be asked to fill out paperwork and staff will call the NU Library Privileges Office to verify their status. A card will then be issued on the spot.
Loyola borrowers’ cards for NU patrons are valid for a maximum of one year, and have an expiration date of May 31st. Cards may be renewed annually upon verification of current status with Northwestern University.
Books checked out at Loyola by Northwestern borrowers have a 4-week loan period with a grace period of 4 days, after which fines accrue at the rate of 25 cents per day with a maximum fine of $5.00. If an item becomes 35 days overdue, a replacement charge of $50.00 and a processing fee of $15.00 are applied and the patron record is blocked from further transactions. Loan periods and fine rates at Loyola libraries are the same for all Northwestern borrowers, regardless of status.
Northwestern borrowers who do not return overdue or recalled Loyola books will have a block placed against not only their reciprocal privileges but also their borrowing privileges at Northwestern libraries until the material is returned. Any fines and fees incurred at either institution are the responsibility of the individual borrower.
General Loyola library collection materials may be renewed as often as needed, provided they are not overdue and no one has placed a recall on the items. Materials may be renewed online through the Pegasus catalog. To renew books, log in to Pegasus . Materials may also be renewed in person at one of the Loyola libraries' circulation desks.
In addition to returning books directly to Loyola libraries, Northwestern patrons may return Loyola books to the Interlibrary Loan desk or the circulation desk at any NU library.
Please note: These books will be returned via the Illinois Library Delivery System and will not be checked in until they reach the owning library. Please plan accordingly by assuming a minimum 7-day transit time, during which time fees may accrue, depending on the due date. Patrons will be held responsible for any book returned in this manner until it is checked in at the owning library.
