Students who need research support for a project are encouraged to book a consultation appointment with a librarian.
We also have a number of resources which can help you in your studies:
- Help with study skills
- How to use NUcat, the library catalog
- Subject guides
- Searching e-resources
- Citing/referencing your research
Key services for faculty and staff:
Course Reserves
Faculty can place items on course reserve if they are likely to be high use items. Loan periods for reserve items are 2 hours. Contact us to organize this for you.
Library Instruction
Schedule in-class instruction sessions to introduce students to key search strategies and evaluation techniques specific to your course projects. Evidence shows that targeted library instruction influences student approaches to research and encourages them to think more creatively about their search for information.
Schedule a personalized instruction session for your students.
Research Consultations
Students are encouraged to follow up a class visit from Nikki with an individual research consultation tailored to their information-gathering needs.
If you would like help with finding information for your personal research, we'd also be very happy to help!
Recommend items for the Collection
We rely on you to help us build a core collection of resources in communication and journalism and allied areas. Please send through any recommendations you might have. We'd also be very happy to chat with you about your collection needs.
